The local Arabian Bemco Contracting on 6 May signed a contract with Germany’s Siemens to carry out erection works at the kingdom’s
first independent power project (IPP) in Jubail, being promoted by Saudi Petrochemical Company (Sadaf).
Under the six-month contract, initially valued at about SR 12 million ($3.2 million), Bemco will erect the plant’s two Siemens W501D5A turbines, which will produce about 250 MW of power, and carry out electrical installation works.
The project is due to be completed in the second quarter of 2005. The project company is Jubail Energy Company.
