The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has awarded the Consortium lead by Arabian Bemco Contracting Limited
“The Conversion of the Open Cycle Gas Turbines to Combined Cycle Power Plant in Qurayyah Power Plant”.
The Contract was signed with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) represented by His Excellency Saleh H. Alawaji, the Deputy Minister of Electricity as the SEC Vice Chairman of SEC’s Board of Directors, on 20th October, 2009 in SEC’s office in Riyadh.
The Consortium of Arabian Bemco Contracting Co. Ltd. & Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd., submitted the lowest bid of US$ 1,835,460,000 among 3 bidders bidding on this Project.
Conversion of Open Cycle Gas Turbines to Combined Cycle at Qurayyah Power Plant, Stage-C (The Project), is an Extension Project of the current Qurayyah Power Plant Project by adding 5 Steam Turbines and 15 Heat Recovery Steam Generators.
This strategic project will add 1,300 MW to the national grid of Saudi Arabia, which will be completed by February, 2015 on a very tight schedule basis. The Combined Cycle Extension will boost up the Qurayyah Power Plant capacity to 3,200 MW.
